Prioritizing your emotional well-being…

by starting psychotherapy is a big decision, and I take that seriously. Research shows that the most important factor in clinical improvement is the quality of the client’s relationship with their therapist. That’s why I encourage you to set up a free 15-minute consultation, to see if we’re a good fit. My style is warm, interactive and down-to-earth. Together, we’ll come up with goals to work on, so that you can gain self-understanding, learn to make better choices, find greater joy in relationships, and feel a greater sense of peace and fulfillment in your life.

I provide both short-term and long-term therapy. I value and celebrate diversity, and I work with clients from all racial and cultural backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, and all walks of life. My specialties include:

Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Stress. I’ve worked with many women in their 20s and 30s, dealing with work or relational stress that’s taking its toll on their health.

  • Learn skills to quiet fears and take charge of anxious thoughts

  • Set reasonable goals and break free from perfectionism

  • Practice relaxation, breathing techniques, and guided imagery

  • End negative self-talk and mistaken beliefs

Parenting. My first clinical job was providing support on a hotline for stressed parents. But only when I became a Mom did I truly understand the challenges! In an age of “perfect parent” expectations, I’m all about embracing imperfection.

  • Move from unconscious (reactive) to conscious (reflective & calm) parenting

  • Focus on connection and respectful communication: listening so kids will talk; talking so kids will listen

  • Resolve family conflicts peacefully

  • Find support and insight when parenting raises unfinished business from your own childhood (as it does!)

Difficult losses and grief counseling. I’ve worked as a counselor for the dying at a hospice in San Francisco, and as a bereavement therapist. I have particular experience with:

  • Anticipatory grief following the terminal diagnosis of a loved one

  • Daughters grieving mothers

  • Spousal loss

  • Prenatal diagnosis grief & decision-making support from a safe, pro-choice perspective

Creative exploration to create lasting change. My Master’s degree gave me extensive training in integrating counseling with expressive arts therapy. We can talk about incorporating creative expression into therapy, depending on your interest and comfort. Examples include:

  • Visual art, journaling, role-play, guided imagery, sound and movement

  • These interactive experiences engage a more creative side of the brain, and can help us see things from a new perspective and find unexpected solutions
