What is your professional fee?

Individual therapy:

  • $165 per 50-minute session

Couples counseling:

  • $195 for 60-minute couples/family session

  • $240 for 75-minute couples/family session

Initial intake sessions for couples are typically 75 minutes, during which time we’ll assess together the optimal length (60 vs 75 minutes) for ongoing sessions.

I offer a lower-fee option for those with a strong commitment to therapy, but unable to pay my full fee. I have limited discounted fee slots, so check with me for availability. Let’s talk and if it does not work out, I’m happy to offer referrals.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not take insurance. I’m an “out-of-network provider,” and clients pay my full fee at the time of service. Many insurance companies will (at least partially) reimburse for out-of-network providers. To find out what might be covered, call your insurance company and ask about its reimbursement rate for “out of network mental health.” Upon request, I will provide you with a monthly receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Often, insurance carriers require a diagnosis code for reimbursement. I will discuss with you any diagnoses given before adding it to your receipt. It is your responsibility to confirm the limits of your insurance coverage, and I can’t guarantee reimbursement by your insurance carrier.

What’s your availability? Do you offer evening appointments?

All appointments are via telehealth, due to the ongoing pandemic. Availability may change from week to week. Currently, I do have weekday evening availability, but no weekend availability.

How often should I expect to meet with you?

I work with new clients on a weekly basis. Some clients prefer to schedule for the same day and time each week, and others have shifting work schedules that make this less feasible. When it comes to scheduling, I make every effort to accommodate the needs of my clients, subject to availability. For couples who are not experiencing a crisis or a period of high conflict, I offer the option of meeting on a bi-weekly basis, to allow time to practice the tools together that you’re learning in-session. The decision of how often to meet is a conversation we typically have in the first consultation, and may be an evolving dialogue over time.

What’s your cancellation policy?

I understand that things come up, so you can cancel or reschedule your appointment with at least 24 hours’ notice. If I do not receive at least 24-hours’ notice of your cancellation or rescheduling request, you will be charged the full fee for the session.

What’s the best way to reach you with a schedule change?

All cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made by voicemail at (415) 290-2766 or email at meredith@meredithjanson.com.

What are my payment options?

Payment is required at every session. Prior to the first session, all clients fill out paperwork in our secure online portal, which includes credit card information. Clients are automatically billed following each session, with the card on file.
